Where and How Should I Invest My Money?

The below are 5 areas to invest with percentage based on initial investment.

  1. Emergency Fund - 20%

    • Recommend you put this in a high-interest savings account to be backed by the FDIC such as the one offered by Ally Bank.

  2. Freedom Fund - 30%

    • This should be put in low-cost index funds from Betterment and/or Wealthfront for high growth potential.

  3. LongTerm Savings - 10%

    • A company matched 401k or Roth IRA from Vanguard.

  4. Real Estate or a Business - 30%

    • Real estate or starting your own business can be a great investment. If you are less risk orientated invest in crowd-funded real estate or REITs from Fundrise or RealtyMogul.

  5. High-Risk Speculation - 10%

    • My favorite right now is Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. Buy Bitcoin on Coinbase to get started.

As an example, if I had $10,000 to invest my breakdown would look like the below:

  1. Emergency Fund - $2,000

  2. Freedom Fund - $3,000

  3. LongTerm Savings - $1,000

  4. Real Estate / Business - $3,000

  5. High-Risk - $1,000
